The Cummins ISB engine has a means to pull data from the ECM to analyze any engine problems, which might exist. This can be done through the use of Warning (yellow) and Stop (red) lights on dash panel to signify fault codes. Note– not all system anomalies are shown in fault codes.

To check for active engine electronic fuel system fault codes , turn the key switch “OFF” and move the diagnostic switch to “ON” position.

Turn vehicle key switch to “ON” position.

If no active fault codes are recorded, both lights will come on and stay on.

If active fault codes are recorded, both lights will come on momentarily and then begin to flash the code of the recorded faults.

The fault codes will flash in the following sequence:

First a “Warning” (yellow) lamp will flash. Then there will be a short one or two second pause after which the number of the recorded fault will flash in “ STOP” (red). There will be a one or two second pause between each number. When the number has finished flashing in red, a yellow lamp will appear again. The three digit code will repeat in the same sequence.

The lights flash each fault code two times before advancing to the next code. You can skip ahead by using the “Idle Adjust” switch.
